THE SONGS

On this page you will find additional songs written that don't fall into "THAT SURE THING" "THE PERSUADERS" "A NEW YORK ROMANCE" OR "URGE" projects although some may well be related.

Here is some information about them;
  • Wishfully Dreaming - Sung by Marc Vormawah and played by him and Matt Murphy
  • Should i Wait a Bit Longer? - Sung by Rachel Gore and John Kennedy - This is John's Tom Jones and Lulu "Duet"
  • It's Not What Men Do - Sung and Co-Written by Phil Wylie - John had the backing track and asked Phil to put some words to the tune - The results were very pleasing
  • Each Time You Make Me Stay - Sung by Marc Vormawah - Alternative Version to the John Kennedy sung version -
  • We All Make Mistakes - Sung by Phil Wylie - When the Persuaders were looking for a replacement when Tony Upham left it  was decided to record a few of the songs The Band had been rehearsing and for this song Phil from Come In Tokio was asked to sing - One of John's favourite songs of his or many years
  • Playing with Fire - Sung by Karen McKee and Marc Vormawah - Co-Written by John Gillin - Like "We all Make Mistakes" this was recorded in Amazon Studios in between singers. This Song got The Persuaders the interest of Ged Taylor and Philip Ames and Virgin Records. John Kennedy and Siobhan Maher sang this many times with The Persuaders and brought the house down a  few times. These recordings have come straight from Cassette hence the poorish quality

April 10th 2001 - Wishfully Dreaming

You will find on this page a song i wrote called "Wishfully Dreaming" - This was recorded on 10th April 2001 with another song "Tomorrow" (see A NEW YORK ROMANCE PAGE) - and is performed by Marc Vormawah and my Uncle Matt (Murphy) - I was able to film them working on "Wishfully Dreaming" in the Studio just before the song was committed to tape - There are 3 run through videos and the 4th is Marc's fantastic first Vocal take that we only changed a line of - When i was writing for "The Persuaders" i had to think of songs that 11 people could perform so it was really nice to write a few songs that only needed a couple of guitars and a vocal -
