Songs From My Front Room" # 3

“It’s Not that I’m Afraid of your Husband (It’s Just that my Wife Scares Me More”

Hi friends,

Week number 3 on this bloggy thing.

Another new song – Apologies if you have seen this video before but it was one I prepared earlier a few weeks ago.

I’ve been quite full on this last week so rather than missing a week out I thought I’d include this little ditty as it’s a bit tongue in cheek and the last two songs where quite miserable in subject matter

So for Episode 3 of “Songs from My Front Room”.

About the song

This is called “It’s not that I’m Afraid of your Husband (It’s Just that my Wife Scares Me More”.

The problem with this song and revealing the title is you give the game away or punchline so it loses impact I imagine

If you didn’t know what it was called.

For live performance I’ll not introduce it.

I wrote quite a few Country songs in the last few weeks and from the books I have read about Songwriting in Nashville and songwriters the title can be nearly as important as the song itself.

Even if I say so myself I think the stars lined up or something when this line came to me. It was one of those moments if you are a songwriter when everything falls into place. Ok maybe I’m exaggerating? I play it quite slow in this video but when recorded it’ll be pure bluegrass and upbeat.

Additionally I’ve been pretty chuffed for my friend and singer “Sister Lee” with all the lovely comments she has had about “Who Took The Stars out of the Sky?” a song I wrote and recorded with her. One of my own fave songs of mine.

This week’s listening has been very diverse again – some Joshua Brunell (Folk Music), Some Aaron Copland classical stuff and still listening to my album of the week before last “Mary Chapin Carpenter’s” – The Dirt and The Stars” and loving it to bits

Books – I was bought a book by someone called “Black Box Thinking” by Matthew Syed. It’s a non fiction book which is about how one can learn from one’s mistakes.

I initially was joking that someone bought me a book about being a failure and how to learn to live with it but it’s a bit more (thankfully).

Telly wise – I’m still working my way through “Kavanagh QC” for the first time – I think John Thaw is/was one of my favourite British Actors.

Just got a biography of his life and an autobiography of his wife “Sheila Hancock “  looking forward to reading these.

Ok thanks for reading this and listening to my song – hopefully you’ll tune in to the next episode?

Till then take care and stay safe xx
